Thank you for your interest in improving education about the rapidly evolving COVID-19 pandemic! COVID-19 Classes for Kids (CCFK), spearheaded by medical students at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), is mobilizing health professions graduate students across the USA to teach free, interactive virtual classes about COVID-19 to children who are currently “sheltering in place” at home.

Please fill out this form if you are interested in signing up your classroom(s) for a virtual lesson, or multiple virtual lessons. CCFK will try our best to meet your needs based on health professions graduate student volunteer availability. A student volunteer will be in touch with you soon to begin coordinating virtual lessons tailored to your classroom. We are initially focusing on teaching students from 4th grade to 12th grade.

We will conduct each lesson on a video calling platform and anticipate the length to be between 30 minutes to 1 hour, though we can adjust the timing and frequency according to your needs. We do not intend for CCFK to be a full-blown course; rather, we hope to coordinate with you to teach 1-2 (or more) virtual lessons about COVID-19 depending on the individual preferences of your classrooms and students. CCFK prioritizes flexibility so that we can best fit your needs!

We can talk to your students about a wide variety of topics including the natural history of SARS-CoV-2, the pathophysiology of COVID-19, cutting edge vaccine development research, pandemic-related policy interventions around the world, hate crimes against Asian-Americans following the pandemic’s inception, and even basic hand-washing techniques. We are flexible so please let us know how we can best meet the needs and interests of your classroom. We compile material for our lesson plans from vetted sources, such as the CDC, and strive to provide information that is as accurate and up-to-date as possible.
