Touch Ceramics is proud to hold a solo exhibition for Silvia Granata, a talented ceramic artist who is famous for her works with thousands of porcelain segments grouping in different rhythms. Silvia is an award winner in ceramics around the world. In the past six years, she has almost 30 exhibitions in Europe as well as Asia. In this exhibition "In a crowded silence", we are so honoured to have her not only at the opening reception, but she also will teach her special techniques by giving thee workshops at Touch Ceramics.

The workshops are an introduction to colouring porcelain clay body and create jewellery by using a cutting and carving simple technique. After a brief introduction to the artist’s work and a demonstration of the technique the participants will be guided in creating their projects inspired by the artist’s jewellery.

Part I: Porcelain ring, earrings and bracelet workshop (half day)

Participants will be introduced to porcelain by making their own coloured porcelain clay, using pigments and white porcelain supplied by the studio.  They will create a bracelet and elements for earrings. All elements will be sanded smooth but not glazed to emphasise porcelain matt texture.

Part II: Porcelain necklace workshop(full day)

Participants will be introduced to porcelain by making their own coloured porcelain clay, using pigments and white porcelain supplied by the studio.  They will create a necklace. All elements will be sanded smooth but not glazed to emphasize porcelain matt tactile feeling.

Time : 10:00-18:00 (Including 2 hours lunch break from 13:00-15:00)

About Silvia Granata:

Born in Cesena, Italy in 1970. Despite her interest in arts and architecture, decided to take up a career in economics because of her family business and she graduated in Business Studies at Hull University, UK.

After a short time spent in France she went back to Italy and settled down in the countryside in Romagna, where she experimented various artistic expressions until 2007 when she got to ceramics as a self taught person. She deepened her knowledge of various techniques such as raku, smoke firing and porcelain in recent years.

Granata’s works has been exhibited in many national and international venues and are part of private and public collections in Italy and abroad.

Silvia Granata 瓷片首飾工作坊

Touch Ceramics 很榮幸邀請到意大利陶瓷藝術家Silvia Granata來港舉行個展,Silvia 擅長用數以千計的瓷片組合成不同的空間排列,瓷片的疏密、排列的方向、顏色的反差,都代表著她創作時不同的心境。過去短短六年間,Silvia參與了接近30次聯展,更多次獲得世界各地的陶瓷獎項。這次她不單會親自來港參加展覽的開幕典禮,更願意為我們舉辦三場工作坊,以她獨有的技巧創作首飾。

工作坊內容包括藝術家的分享及示範、學習瓷泥上色技巧,最後用簡單的切割及雕刻方法創作首飾。
