What a tough topic, right? We invite you to participate in it with us and we're grateful for the stories you might share in this application.

International design firm IDEO (www.ideo.com) is working on a project to better understand the transitions that people face as they become dependent on others. How do people identify when they or a family member can no longer do everything in life independently? How do people navigate the endless logistics of becoming a caregiver or planning end of life care? How do you remain independent as a senior and get the help you need?

As we seek answers to these questions and others, we want to talk to new seniors, older seniors and the caregivers who support them through all stages. We hope to design new systems and products together.

We are hosting a mix of in-home interviews, remote video calls, and group sessions in the BAY AREA JUNE 24 - 28 and the BOSTON AREA on JULY 1 - 3. All conversations will be 60-90 minutes and paid $100 - $160 via Paypal or Venmo, depending on the period of time we schedule with you.

You May Be:
~ A caregiver for a family member or close friend
~ A senior and being cared for, or having care managed by family members
~ 65-90 years old and fiercely independent, living alone and making all of your own decisions
~ Struggling with your finances or health
~ Sharing the care responsibilities of an older family member with your siblings
~ Thinking about or actively planning for end of life (yours or another's)

You Must:
~ Feel comfortable sharing your story with researchers and potentially a group.
~ Have opinions about healthcare, community, the tools and resources that impact your life.

This project and this application covers some tough or sensitive subjects. We want to make these experiences better! But we also recognize that they can be hard to talk about and you probably want to keep them private. Please know that we keep these applications very private and do not use the information for anything other than as an application to participate in this research.
