NYC Parks & STEMteachersNYC - SPARKS 2.0 Collaboration! Oct 7 @3pm Information Session RSVP.
STEM in Parks (SPARKS!), a partnership between The NYC Parks Department and STEMteachersNYC is moving into its second school year! SPARKS aims to bring place- and parks-based research to NYC classrooms, and students into parks.

Please RSVP here to join us Thursday October 7, 2021, 3:00-4:00pm EDT to learn more about the range of projects, as well as meet with some of the Parks researchers who you would be working with should you chose to participate. This will be a great opportunity to ask questions and meet like minded teachers!

Space is limited! Stipends will be offered to participating teachers!

Program Timeline:

> Fall Fundamentals:
In the fall, your teacher team will meet with a NYC Parks staff member to learn about their work and areas of research. After this, teacher teams will work together and with students to familiarize themselves with data collection tools and protocols, and begin exploring the content for curricular connections and potential areas of inquiry.

> Winter Wrap:
In the winter, teachers will review work from the fall and identify possible projects to develop for spring based on student interest and potential. Students/teachers begin to develop research questions and test out appropriate data collection methods; refine research project proposal.

> Springboard into Spring:
At the start of the spring data collection season, students, teachers, and NYC Parks researchers will meet in-person to discuss the project, practice data collection, etc.

> Project Share-Out and Celebration:
Before the end of the school year, all teams and researchers will convene for a ½ day project share out-out and celebration of the work.

We look forward to meeting and working with you! Please email info@stemteachersnyc.org with questions or for more information.
