2023 Track and Field - Athlete Expectations

Parent/Guardian - Please complete this with your student athlete so that you are both aware of the expectations

Attend practice every day and complete the training workout that is given by coaches. Your parent MUST let the coaches know if you will be absent to be considered excused.

I understand

Stay with the team during practice. You may not leave the group for any reason without permission from a coach.

I understand

Be prepared for practice when you leave the building to go outside. This means using the restroom, filling your water bottle, and having all necessary items BEFORE practice starts.

Listen for your name and make sure you get marked when attendance is called. If you don’t let a coach know you are present during roll call, you may not receive credit for that practice. *

Wear appropriate running attire for practice. The most important thing to remember is running shoes!

Treat everyone at practices and meets, both adults and students, with respect and politeness.

Maintain a 2.0 GPA with no more than one F during the entire track season. Grades will be checked by the athletic director (Mrs. McKenna).

Participate appropriately in all classes and follow all school rules. If coaches receive word from a teacher that you are not following expectations in their classroom, you may have a conversation about your class behavior at practice. This may lead to termination from the team if it becomes a repetitive issue.

Follow all safety rules and coach directions at practices and meets.

If any of the following happen, you may be removed from the track and field team:

- Repeated inappropriate behavior in any class (Ex: being removed from a class more than once for behavioral reasons). This is up to coach's discretion.

- Discipline reported to the office (Ex: accumulated tardies, receiving office referrals, etc)

- Unsportsmanlike conduct at any school sponsored athletic event/practice (middle or high school)

- Having any more than 3 unexcused OR 8 non-health related excused absences from practices

- Repeatedly disregarding safety rules or coach directions at practice or meets

I understand

When a player is terminated, they will be responsible for returning their uniform to a coach or the Lakeview office.

Failure to return the clothing within 3 school days will result in the student being billed for the missing materials.

I understand and agree to the above requirements for participation in Lakeview Track and Field.

I understand that if I fail to meet the above expectations I will be terminated from the team and will be responsible for turning in my uniform.
