Are you experienced with online teaching and equity-minded instructional strategies? Are you interested in sharing your expertise with your colleagues through training and/or mentorship? If so, we want to hear from you ASAP!
Based on two MOUs approved this summer, we (Sean Davis, Bruce Hoskins, and Jim Julius) are a workgroup with the joyful task of coordinating faculty mentoring and training to “provide distance education training opportunities and support to faculty during the summer and fall of 2020.”
Specifically, the MOUs provide funding for:
120 compensated hours for associate faculty to prepare and deliver training
120 compensated hours for full-time faculty to prepare and deliver training
216 compensated hours for up to 12 total full-time and associate faculty to provide mentorship “to support faculty transitioning to distance education”
What are we thinking about regarding “mentors”? We’re looking for faculty representing a range of disciplines, instructional strategies, and expertise with different tools. These faculty would be open to meeting with colleagues 1-1, holding disciplinary discussions, providing “office hours”, facilitating faculty groups, or other creative ways of providing support that you can help us to establish! We also anticipate networking our mentors together for mutual support, sharing of what’s working, and ensuring that all are able to meet our faculty’s needs most effectively.
