About NAMI Hennepin County  
The National Alliance on Mental Illness of Hennepin County (NAMI Hennepin) responds to the mental health and mental illness concerns specific to Hennepin County, Minnesota. We support, educate, and advocate for those in our community who live with a mental illness.

NAMI Hennepin is a non-profit organization governed by a voluntary board. We welcome broad interest and participation. We are an affiliate of NAMI Minnesota. For more information, please visit our website, www.namihennepincounty.org.

Call for Applicants
We are seeking applications from individuals who would like to join the board and serve a two-year term beginning in June 2023. Elections to the board will take place at our annual meeting which will be held via Zoom with an in-person option. We encourage applications by all who are interested in working together to advance our mission and who meet the criteria listed below. We would like our board to reflect the broad diversity of Hennepin County and encourage people who identify as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) to apply.  


Criteria for being on the NAMI Hennepin County Board
-18 years or older  
-Member of NAMI Hennepin County (see website for membership details)
-Personal connection to those living with a diagnosis of a mental illness
-Reside or work in Hennepin County
-Be able to attend most monthly 90-minute meetings 

Board Member Role
-Regularly attends monthly board meeting (60-90 minutes) and important related meetings  
-Prepares for board and committee meetings by reviewing materials shared in advance and offers constructive comments and perspectives  
-Builds positive working relationships with other board members that contribute to a strong and effective board  
-Participates on committees, given time and interest  
-Completes any volunteer assignments thoroughly and on time  
-Helps support fundraising efforts  
-Supports the organization’s policies including those related to ethics, conduct, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
