Dear Parents/Caregivers

Your child has expressed interest in representing the school in the North Harbour College (Year 9 and 10) Badminton Competition for 2021. This is a team competition with a minimum of 4 players required in each team.

Details are as follows:

COMPETITION COMMENCEMENT DATE -  Week 1 term 3 (Week of the 26th of July 2021)

VENUE - Badminton North Harbour, Bond Crescent, Forresthill or Active Badminton Centre, 46 Apollo Drive, Mairangi Bay

COMPETITION PLAYING DAY AND TIME - Games are played from 4pm to 5.30pm.
Year 9 and 10 Boys are played on a Thursday and year 9 and 10 girls are played on a Wednesday afternoon.

REQUIRED UNIFORM -  AJHS PE shirt and shorts. Players need indoor sports shoes and their own rackets.  

TRAINING - Term 2 training sessions will commence on Wednesday the 2nd of June and continue each Wednesday through term 2. Students will be allocated a one hour training time between 3.30pm and 5.30pm. Times will be confirmed once registrations have closed.
The term 2 training sessions will consist of 6 weeks of coaching from a North Harbour Badminton coach to assist with preparing players for the term 3 competition.
In term 3 the training time will revert to Friday afterschool which will be the team training time. Training times will be confirmed.

TRIALS - Trials will be held during term 2 to rank players in teams. Subject to sufficient numbers all students that register for the term 3 badminton competition will be placed in a team.

TRANSPORT - It is the responsibility of parent/caregivers to either transport their child to the games and trainings each week or to arrange for another parent/caregiver to transport them. The school does not provide transport for this competition.

REGISTRATION FEE - $90.00 per student

COMPULSORY ADMINISTRATION FEE - $25.00 (One payment of $25.00 will be charged regardless of the number of sports played)
Please note that once teams are confirmed, there will be no refund of the registration or administration fee unless an approved medical certificate is supplied.

For this length of time and at this level of competition each school team requires a manager.
The Managers are required to organise the team, ensuring all players and parents/caregivers are aware of game times and trainings. The Manager is required to attend the games each week and oversee the team at the game.

Without parent volunteers it is impossible for teams to participate in the competition so if you are available to assist with either role please tick the appropriate box on the form.

To ensure your child is registered for the North Harbour College (Year 9 and 10) Badminton Competition for 2021, please complete the following form and submit by Friday the 28th of May 2021. Please also ensure that the registration fee of $90.00 plus $25.00 Administration Fee is paid by Friday 28th May 2021.
