The Office of the Provost is offering a free virtual babysitting program designed to support faculty teaching from home during the autumn quarter. Children and UChicago students will meet via video chat while their parents are teaching. We imagine that this pilot program will be most useful for faculty parents whose children are old enough to work independently with a babysitter via video chat, perhaps children between 4 and 12. The babysitter can make up games, do worksheets, read stories etc. Faculty parents and UChicago student babysitters will arrange the schedule and agree on age appropriate activities. All students will be paid by the University for their time babysitting faculty children. UChicago students will have a completed background check before being introduced to a faculty family.
