ST. PAUL’S EPISCOPAL CHURCH • FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS
Confirmation is a way for individuals who have been baptized to reaffirm the promises that were made at their baptism and to take their full place in the life of the universal church. Confirmation is offered in the spring when the bishop visits St. Paul’s. The Inquirers Class, which is offered twice a year, and Youth Confirmation Class serve as preparation for Confirmation.
In the Episcopal Church, Confirmation is not required for full membership but is necessary for those who wish to serve as a chalice-bearer, a member of the Vestry, or in few other particular ministries. More importantly, it is a way for individuals to publicly affirm their faith in the context of their congregation.
Because Confirmation is a way for individuals to take their full place in the life of the universal church, we recognize Confirmation that has been offered in the Roman Catholic, ELCA, and Orthodox Churches. If you have been confirmed in one of these, you would be received into this church when the bishop is here. If you have already been confirmed or received in the Episcopal Church, you may reaffirm your baptismal vows during the bishop’s visit.
