2023 Rising Star Award Nominations
DESCRIPTION:

The California Democratic Party Asian Pacific Islander Caucus (CDP API Caucus) Rising Star Award recognizes outstanding emerging leaders in the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community whose courage, service, and leadership demonstrate strong commitment to empowering the AAPI community in California.

The CDP API Caucus Rising Star Award recipient(s) will be honored at the 2023 CDP State Convention (May 26-28) during the Convention Meeting of the CDP API Caucus Meeting. Exact date and time are forthcoming.

Deadline to submit nominations for the 2023 Trailblazer Awards is FRIDAY, April 14, 2023, 11:59 PM Pacific Time.  For any questions, please contact Caucus Chair Deepa Sharma at cademparty.apicaucus@gmail.com.

QUALIFICATIONS & NOMINATION PROCESS:

An honoree for the CDP API Caucus Rising Star Award:
(1) Is a California Democrat;
(2) Is age 35 or under;
(3) Has demonstrated a commitment to leadership and service in empowering the AAPI community civically and/or politically in California;
(4) Is actively engaged in finding creative and innovative ways to increase API political involvement among API youth; and
(5) Is encouraged to attend the CDP API Caucus meeting during the 2023 CDP Convention to receive the award.

Current CDP API Caucus Members may nominate more than one individual for the CDP API Caucus Rising Star Award.  The CDP API Caucus Board will consider all nominees and finalize the award recipients.  We encourage Caucus Members to nominate individuals of API descent. However, that is not a requirement for a finalist to receive the award.
