Mr. Marti Mätas will be giving a talk titled “Estonia in the EU and in the World – How a Small Country Tries to Punch Above Its weight.

Marti Mätas is the Deputy Head of the Estonian Embassy in Korea. He has been working in Korea for two years setting up the Estonian embassy. Prior to being posted to Korea, Mr. Mätas held different positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications of Estonia, including Councellor for Trade in the Estonian PermRep to the EU during the Estonian Presidency in 2017. Mr. Mätas has graduated from the English Department of Tartu University and has later studied Asian Studies in Tallinn University.

Topics will include:

*  How can a relatively small country be on an equal footing with bigger ones and make its voice heard?

* Current hot topics for Estonia – aggression against Ukraine, economic wellbeing, rise of populism.
