This survey is designed to 'crowd source' information about how the
USGS Pesticide National Synthesis Project has supported and continues to support research, outreach/extension, and teaching in a variety of scientific fields. There have been recent and planned changes that reduce the value of the program:
- In 2015 seed-applied pesticides were dropped
- In 2019 the # of tracked compounds fell from ~400 to ~70
- Starting in 2024, pesticide use estimates will be released on a 5-year cycle (vs. annual updates)
Many in the scientific community are concerned about these changes, and a small group of scientists will meet with USGS in early July to discuss these concerns. The information gathered here will be used to demonstrate the value of the dataset in the scientific community and what stands to be lost if the program is not reinstated.
Thank you for taking a few minutes to fill this out. Please feel free to share this survey widely in your networks! (it will be open through July 3rd)
