LET Summer Internship ProgramHigh school students residing in Woburn are invited to work with SCI as a Leadership for an Equitable Tomorrow (LET) intern, a program SCI coordinates in partnership with the Network for Social Justice! LET focuses on youth mental health and the intersection of mental health, racism and other social justice issues. Potential new LET interns should be students who will be in high school as of September 2023.
The internship will run from from the week of July 10th through mid-August, with the following components:
This will be a hybrid program, including:
Two in-person workshops on youth mental health topics, led by adults with expertise in the topic.
Helping to organize and recruit peers to attend one of the workshops referenced above.
Leading or co-leading one or more sessions on mindfulness for other youth participating in local summer camp programs.
Helping to update the Middlesex4MentalHealth.org website created by LET in summer of 2022.
Potentially developing an additional community project to further the LET goals.
Potentially assisting with other SCI projects, time permitting.
Working independently / virtually on the above initiatives.
Regular check ins with team members and supervisor.
Interns will participate in the program approximately 25 hours over the course of the summer program (4 to 5 hours per week on average -perfect for students to have another summer job and/or activity!).
Students who participate fully in the program will have an opportunity to receive a stipend of approximately $375, paid based on an hourly rate of $15/hour.
Selection considerations:
LET interns have an interest in improving youth mental health and developing their leadership skills.
We are interested in having students join us who are interested in continuing with the LET program during the 2023/24 school year. In addition, we seek to have students representing groups disproportionately impacted by mental health challenges in the program, as well as those who can benefit from the stipend.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, so apply ASAP. We will have LET interns selected by June 13.
Limited spots available! Funding for LET is provided by Winchester Hospital Community Benefits. Major support for SCI Woburn comes from Cummings Properties.
