Buddhist Temple of Toledo Affinity and Support Groups Proposal
In order to foster members’ personal and religious growth and in order to encourage lasting friendships, mutual support, and working together toward common goals, the Great Heartland Sangha Buddhist Temple of Toledo Leadership Council sponsors Affinity and Support Groups. An Affinity or Support Group is a member-lead group organized around a shared interest or activity.

Affinity and Support Groups must be open to any temple member who finds an affinity with the group, and must be advertised to all members. No fees will be charged for participation. Other than for same-day use, donations collected to cover the cost of activities, materials, or food will be deposited with the temple and receipts submitted by the organizers for reimbursement. All activities sponsored by an Affinity or Support Group must be related to its purpose.

Brief description of the group's activities *
What kinds of meetings will the group have and what kinds of activities will the group organize and how often will they take place (include location and logistics). This may be used in activity publicity.
Will the Group be working with any organizations outside of the Great Heartland Sangha? *
Examples: Collaborating with a similar Affinity Group at a local Unitarian Universalist congregation
Will the Group publicize any of its events or activities beyond the Sangha's private Facebook group? *
Examples: Inviting all ~700 members of the Buddhist Temple of Toledo email list to build a house during a Habitat for Humanity workday; inviting the general public to a support group
Will the group need to collect and hold onto financial contributions from its members for future use? If yes, what will those funds be used for and how will they be managed? *
Examples: Organizers and Group members may directly collect and spend funds from Group members for same-day uses, for example an Organizer may gather $5 from hungry participants to pay for a pizza that is expected to arrive soon, or an Organizer may collect the cost of a movie ticket from each parent sending a child to a movie that day. When an Affinity or Support Group wishes to collect funds to be used in the future -- for example, collecting $100 each from 15 participants in March to pay $1500 for a camping trip in May -- the Group Organizers will need to deposit those funds with the Temple and work with Leadership Council to make necessary purchases or submit receipts for reimbursement when it is time to use the funds. Organizers of groups that need to collect funds for future use will work closely with Leadership Council on financial management.
