CESI•CS National Workshops Summer 2019
BACKGROUND
The Computers in Education Society for Ireland has created a Community of Practice, CESI•CS,  for educators concerned with Computer Science. 57 face-to-face meetings in local education centres have taken place since December 2017, to establish relationships and share experience with educators at all levels interested in developments in Computer Science. A national workshop took place on Saturday June 16th 2018 in Laoise Education Centre.

NATIONAL WORKSHOPS THIS SUMMER
This summer we are holding two further national workshops - in Waterford on Saturday 15th June and Monaghan on Saturday 22nd June. We will run parallel sessions: morning beginning at 10:00 with  lunch at 12:30 and afternoon from 14:00, finishing at 16:30.

AIM
The aim will be to tackle a challenge related to the introduction of computing - it may be personal competence, level-specific or cross-levels and cross-curricular. Each workshop session should satisfy a need to work in collaboration to either learn a new skill or to achieve some outcome related to pedagogy, assessment or the curriculum.

EXPRESS INTEREST TO ATTEND …
Using this form you can simply say you'd like to attend, and on which date(s).

… OR, BETTER, OFFER TO FACILITATE A SESSION
If you can, make a proposal to facilitate a session. This may be either something you need personally, seeking support from others, or for something you can offer to facilitate, which you believe others or the community may need. These activities are to address YOUR needs in practice and might include:

• EVALUATING resources to contribute or curate the CompSci database,
• IMPROVING knowledge of a new programming language,
• EXPLORING data structures or queries,
• MAKING artefacts driven by micro-controllers,
• DISCUSSING student misconceptions about a particular curriculum topic,
• SHARING assessment techniques both formative & summative or
• DESIGNING a lesson and evaluate its effectiveness by joining in a lesson study group.

As soon as I have offers, I will timetable them in parallel sessions and circulate for you to express your preferences.
