U District Food Bank grocery delivery by bike sign-up
The U District Food Bank is looking for some extra delivery help on Saturday mornings! They are asking for 50 volunteer riders who are able to carry 2 to 5 bags each to deliver groceries to families in need in and around the University district, Greenwood, Green Lake, Ravenna, Wallingford, and Lake City neighborhoods. These deliveries will take place every Saturday morning with a 9am, 9:30am, and 10am time blocks at the University District Food Bank location on Roosevelt Way NE Ave S.

Each volunteer rider will need to be able to carry at least two 20 pound bags of groceries. Having a cargo bike or bike trailer is prefered, but not required. As long as you are able to safely secure the bags to your bike with minimal repacking than all types of bikes are welcome!

There are options to ride with a team (maximum of 4 riders) and also to ride solo.

Deliveries for the University District Food Bank will take around a half hour to two hours to make depending on the route that you choose.

If you have any questions or run into any issues signing up please contact Maxwell at maxwellb@cascadebicycleclub.org

Do you need to borrow a bike trailer from us?
These bike trailers are easy to install on your bike and at many of our parner food banks they will be available there for you to borrow while volunteering for us. After you are finished with your delivery and no longer need the trailer please return the trailer back to the food bank. Currently our trailers work best with all bikes with a quick-release rear wheel. Compatibility for bikes with a bolt on wheel thru-axle varies. Email maxwellb@cascadebicycleclub.org to see if your bike is compatible with our trailers.
