Stand Up Smut is an open mic for creative erotic expression. Dance Naked Creative (in association with Nalu Kava Lounge) has been holding space for this open mic since March 2018, and we will end our run May 27th 2024. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this historic event!

If you would like to share something at one of the last SUS events, please fill out this form! While normally we accept sign-ups on the spot, for the final three SUSs we will prioritize the list.

We welcome your erotica, poetry, story or song (OR VISUAL ART!) that illuminates some aspect of sexuality or eroticism. THere is a SIX MINUTE time limit (unless more time has been requested & approved in advance).

FAQ

Does material have to be sexy and/or erotic?

Not at all. We've had stories that were embarrassing, profound, hilarious and heartbreaking. The idea is to share your art that illuminates aspects of sexuality. That's not always gonna be sexy.

We have had stories that included elements of trauma, but - it's not stand up therapy. An audience, even a super-supportive sex-positive audience, is not a substitute for a therapist.

What happens if I go over time?

The host of the evening will indicate at 6 mins that you have used your time (unless more time has been negotiated in advance). Generally, we're pretty generous, but If you go over by a lot, we'll gently but firmly mute you.

Is there a theme or prompt for the event?

No, not for the last three. While we have had themes in the past, for these we welcome your VERY BEST material!

By signing up on this list - does that guarantee me a spot on the list?

No. We sometimes get more requests to share than we have time for.
While we will do our best, we can't guarantee a spot (but most of the time we get to everyone).

Can I sign up on the spot?

You can - but We give preference to those who have signed up in advance, if there is time left, we will get you in.

Is this really the end of Stand Up Smut?

it is possible that there will be the occasionally POP-UP Stand Up Smut sometime in the future, but for now there are no plans for a regular event.

This event has been run entirely on love and instinct. I try and get everyone up who wants to share, but it's not always possible. So we live in the present moment, as it unfolds, and trust the process. Come support other artists! Come create community with other sex-positive people. And yes, come share your genius/perspective/stories - but try and come without expectations (always a good idea- especially when it comes to sex!).
