CUC Conference 2020: Call for Proposals
Conference Theme: "Making Waves." All programming and content will be focused around this theme.
Our interdependence calls us to love and justice, to be a more intentionally inclusive community of belonging with adaptive skills and responses to face the challenges of a changing world. The waves we make should be far-reaching, have impact beyond UU communities, and affect diverse areas of social justice and equity: racial justice; truth, healing and conciliation; refugee sponsorship and migrant justice; environmental concerns; assisted dying; radical inclusion of LGBTQ2+ people; disability justice; underserved communities; economic and social inequalities; multi-generational engagement, and more. How do we make waves that will challenge the status quo, and have implications for our relevance into the future?
This call for proposals invites you to submit your ideas for programming. Please read the following before submitting your proposal. Deadline is Oct 31, 2019.
STREAMS: Are held on Saturday and are about 3 hours in total over the morning and afternoon. Streams are cohesive, participatory / interactive, and designed to appeal to participants from diverse backgrounds and with different goals. The streams should present new and compelling ideas about the conference theme, "Making Waves," and have an impact on personal or spiritual practices, congregational health and leadership, community vitality, and/or lifespan learning. We are particularly interested in Streams which combine the contributions of two or more experienced facilitators.
MULTIGENERATIONAL WORKSHOPS: Are held on Sunday and about 1.5 hours in length. These should also address the conference theme, and are designed for multi-age groups, including youth, young adults and adults (i.e. aged 14 and up), and, if possible, younger participants. We are particularly interested in workshops facilitated or co-facilitated by youth and young adults and religious educators.
ALTERNATE ACTIVITIES: Please fill in the information on page 2 if you have a proposal that is neither a stream nor a workshop.
DECISIONS: The Conference Program Planning Committee (PPC) will receive and evaluate all proposals, and expects to receive more proposals than can be accommodated in the Conference program. The PPC will work with the Facilitators to ensure that the Conference meets the needs and wishes of diverse peoples attending. As part of our commitment to diversity, please let us know if you identify as part of an underrepresented group and how your personal experience informs your topic.
We are very appreciative of facilitators’ contributions, but due to financial constraints, are no longer offering discounted registrations.
