STEP Application

Under the mentorship of our director Sara Constantin, our Student Teacher Education Program (STEP) gives youth the opportunity to become leaders while learning how to time manage, take initiative, make healthy choices, communication skills, preparedness and more! At Squamish Dance Centre, we believe that having an opportunity to develop leadership skills at an early age creates positive, confident and successful humans. Our STEP program will provide your child with skills they can use both inside and outside the studio to shine as a leader!

All dancers applying for the program will be required to attend our STEP 'Back To Dance Training' in September, commit to their scheduled weekly assistant class(es), stay focused and dedicated to their own classes and a willingness to receive feedback and improve their skills.

Treat this like a job; learning how to be a reliable, confident and positive future employee or employer! We do not pay our Student Teachers, this is a volunteer position. We gift our student teachers with a Student Teacher t-shirt, Christmas party and year end gift.

QUALIFICATIONS

Age 10 years or older.
At least 2 years of dance training.
Passionate about working with children.
Passionate about dance.
Willingness to learn.
Always trying your best!

Please let us know what styles of dance you would like to assist with? Our studio director, Miss Sara, will pair you to the class that she feels best fit for you, the teacher and the students. As well as considering the compatibility of SDC's class schedule and your availability.

Which week days and times work best for you? *

The more day/time options provided will improve the chance of successfully pairing you with a class. We have 30+ Student Teachers and there are a lot of moving pieces to consider. Please provide as many day/time options as possible so that we have wiggle room to place everyone appropriately. Be sure to check your own dance schedule (and other extra curricular's) to ensure that you don't double book yourself.
