San Francisco just passed a law to permanently close the jail at 850 Bryant by November 1, 2020. This is a huge victory and a groundbreaking stance against incarceration. But even a 10-1 vote and resounding support from community doesn’t mean that the #ShutDown850 campaign is complete. There are still over 100 people inside County Jail 4 today, and we won’t stop until the day they’re free. In this session, we will be presenting the overview of the law, how it prevents new jails, and what’s left before the decrepit CJ4 cells are emptied once and for all! Join us to have a discussion about how we ensure this new legislation results in material freedom for those currently locked in SF jails.
