The purpose of this grant is to provide reimbursement for :

- conference or workshop attendance: the recipient will be reimbursed up to $1,000 for the cost of registration, hotel, and/or transportation expenses. The recipient of the grant is responsible for submitting receipts of expenses to the VCTM treasurer.

- tuition reimbursement: the recipient will be reimbursed up to $1,000 for the cost of tuition upon completion of a mathematics or mathematics education course. The course must be completed within the year in which the recipient applied for the grant. The recipient of the grant is responsible for submitting a transcript and a receipt of tuition cost to the VCTM treasurer.

Recipients of the grant are encouraged to share the knowledge learned by attending the conference or course work with teachers in their local school division or with their local VCTM affiliate. Recipients are also encouraged to share their experience pertaining to this grant by writing and submitting an article to the Virginia Mathematics Teacher or presenting at a VCTM conference.

Applications are reviewed two times per year for consideration (December 2 and April 15,).
