2023 Summer Chromebook Use
The current Salt Creek School District 48 practice is to collect all Chromebooks at the end of each school year. This summer D48 is offering students who are currently in grades K through 7 and returning to D48 schools this fall the option of keeping their district-issued Chromebook over the summer. Please complete the following google form only if you would like to participate in this opt-in program. In order to participate in this opt-in program, students must first be fully registered for the 2023-2024 school year.

If you would like to take advantage of this opt-in program, please read the following summer use information and respond by Friday, May 26. If no response is received, then we will collect the Chromebook before the end of the school year. 
  • The Chromebook should be ready for use on the first day of the 2023-2024 school year.
  • We encourage our parents and guardians to limit screen time during the summer. D48 will also limit screen time by only allowing students to use their Chromebooks between the hours of 8:00 AM-4:00 PM. After 4:00 PM, the Chromebook will automatically be disabled and will be available for use again the following day starting at 8:00 AM.
  • All Chromebook activity will continue to be filtered and logged. However, the District will not be actively monitoring the activity until school resumes.
  • Students with Chromebook issues should turn in their devices to their school office for repair over the summer. The Chromebook will returned to the students at the beginning of the school in August. 
  • As scheduled, current eighth-grader students must turn in their district-issued Chromebook's prior to graduation. 
Summer Chromebook Care
  • Report Issues: Tell your teacher now if you have tech issues with your Chromebook so it can be looked at or exchanged.
  • Leave it in the protective case when you are not using it.
  • Keep it away from food and drinks at all times. 
  • Charge it occasionally.
  • Be a good digital citizen! Stick to trusted sites, balance screen time, and communicate with kindness.
  • Have it ready for back-to-school use by being charged and ready to use.
