Private Firefly Backpacking Trips are booked differently from our other Private Backpacking Trips because the campsites we use are in high demand, and we can't get permits until 25 days before your trip. Permits are limited to 12 people per campsite, and only 1 group with a commercial guide per campsite.

When you submit this form, a member of our Admin team will reach out to confirm your preferred trip options. At that time, we'll send an invoice for a 25% deposit. Once we confirm the permit for your trip, we'll send a follow-up invoice and you'll have 3 days to submit final payment. If we are unable to secure a permit for your desired itinerary and trip date options, we'll offer either a refund or credit toward a Blue Ghost Firefly Backpacking Trip in Pisgah National Forest. Blue Ghost Fireflies are active around the same time as Synchronous Fireflies!

This trip is only available from May 30 - June 13, 2024. We recommend choosing a weekday to avoid the most crowded days in the National Park.

We've planned this trip in an area and timeframe where Synchronous and Blue Ghost Fireflies are most active, but we are unable to guarantee firefly sightings.

Itinerary options:

- Option 1: 9.5 miles total with 1,100 ft of elevation gain.

- Option 2: 7 miles total with 850 ft of elevation gain.

- Option 3: 13 miles total with 1,600 ft of elevation gain. Note: this hike has several un-bridged creek crossings.
