The mission of the Texas Hill Country River Region is to promote Uvalde County as an overnight year-round tourism destination and to increase off-season occupancy in the region’s accommodations. The organization is funded by hotel occupancy tax through a contract with Uvalde County. Texas Hill Country River Region will review event marketing grant requests to ensure the event aligns with our mission and meets specific criteria as stated by the Tax Code. Under the Tax Code, every event, program, or facility funded with hotel occupancy tax revenues must be likely to do two things:

• directly promote tourism and

• directly promote the convention and hotel industry.

The Texas Hill Country River Region event marketing grant program is designed to support events in Uvalde County with funding to augment the event’s marketing budget. The intent is to help the events market outside our local area to draw in attendees from outside the area who will stay longer in our community.

Timeline:

• At least ninety (90) days prior to the event, the Event Marketing Grant form should be submitted. Documented marketing must begin taking place no less than sixty (60) days prior to the event. 

• Two (2) weeks after submission, the Texas Hill Country River Region Board of Directors and Director will approve or disprove the Event Marketing Grant Request.

• Upon approval, the Director will email the recipient a media kit and a link to the post-event form.

• Thirty (30) days following the completion of the event, the post-event form and any receipts or invoices must be submitted.

• Within two (2) weeks of submitting the post-event form and receipts or invoices, a check will be mailed for reimbursement. Failure to submit all required post-event materials will result in no reimbursement and possible disqualification for future event grants.
