Thank you for your interest in volunteering at our 3rd annual East Oakland Futures Fest! We are seeking volunteers to support several aspects of our festival, which takes place along the Scraper Bike Way (90th Avenue) from Holly Street to Birch Street Saturday, June 8th, 2024 from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. (volunteer shifts are available between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m.).

Volunteer opportunities include setup, zone leaders, greeting and hospitality, traffic control, vendor support, and event cleanup. Please complete the form below to express interest.

More about East Oakland Futures Fest: East Oakland Futures Fest is an Afrofuturism-themed block party and Liberation Weekend event, celebrating the community as it exists today and envisioning a thriving future for the black community. This event is free and open to all, especially and most importantly to Deep East Oakland residents.

Host organizations include emergent labs, Walk Oakland Bike Oakland, and The Hood Planning Group. Our community-based partners include The Scraper Bike Team and The Black Cultural Zone. To date, this event is sponsored by TransForm, Lyft, Square/Block, Lime, and the Bay Area Air Quality Management District.

Event setup: This requires walking and lifting. Help traffic control and overall event setup.

Traffic Control: Help move barricades in place; Talk to drivers about detours, escort drivers out to closest street, move barricades back in place after car exits

Greeting + Hospitality: Support the events team; engage with attendees; provide directions and information

Vendor Support: Support vendors throughout the day from arrival to departure.

Zone Leader (Required to participate as an all-day volunteer)

Event breakdown: This requires walking and lifting. Remove tables and chairs from vendor areas; deconstruct stage and move off of street; pick up portables/lock portables
