WTDGC is a bi-annual international event, and 2024’s edition will be the fifth held by WFDF, previous events being held in Canada, Great Britain, Estonia and Croatia. The 2022 event in Croatia attracted 254 participants from 25 countries.
The event presents a rare opportunity to play disc golf in a team event and to represent your country on the international stage. WTDGC organising body WFDF is the international sports federation responsible for world governance of flying disc sports, including disc golf, ultimate, freestyle and others. Recognised by the International Olympic Committee, The International World Games Association, and other world sports bodies, WFDF represents over 100 countries.
Another important aspect of the competition is that teams record scores for their opponents in Spirit of the Game (SOTG) categories. The spirit score incorporates knowledge of the Rules, Communication and Behaviour. At WTDGC in Croatia 2022, Australia was the spirit award winner. The Australian team will consist of up to 12 players across three divisions: three to six Open (MPO), two to four Female Open (FPO), and one to three Masters (MP40 or FP40, players 40+ years of age in 2024). Players must be an ADG member, hold a current PDGA membership and have passed the PDGA Officials Test. ADG will be selecting the Australian team based on who expresses interest, player ability, and team composition considerations. (link XXX)
This EOI is for the role of Australian Team selector, who will meet during February 2024 (online) to follow the selection policy and decide on the 2024 Australian Team.
