2024 Laguna Beach Little League All-Star Tournament Overview and Registration Form
Laguna Beach Little League is soliciting interest for the following All-Star teams who will compete in District 55’s All-Star Tournaments:
- Age 8-9 Small-Stars - scheduled June 15 - 24
- Age 8-10 All-Stars - scheduled June 28 - July 7
- Age 9-11 All-Stars - scheduled June 29 - July 9
- Majors All-Stars - scheduled June 22 - 30
- Intermediate All-Stars - scheduled June 15 - 22
Players between the League Ages of 8 and 13 years old (age as of 8/31/2024) may be eligible for team selection. Parents are requested to review, sign, and return this form directly no later than the end of the day on May 10, 2024, but preferably as soon as possible.
All Star Format
LBLL All Star teams compete in a double-elimination Tournament hosted by District 55. Field locations are determined by District 55. The selection of the individual LBLL teams, the dates of the Tournament, as well as any additional Tournaments (based on successful advancement), are dependent upon the individual levels of play.
All-Star Experience
The All-Star experience differs from the Regular Season experience. All-Star teams need to quickly assemble and prepare for a demanding, competitive Tournament against some of the best players in our District. Emphasis is placed upon playing the best lineup to position an LBLL victory. Accordingly, some players who normally play the entire game during the regular season, will play very little in All-Stars. The players and parents are expected to accept this fact, trust the Manager, and make the most of what is an absolute privilege – to be an All-Star. Practices, which can include scrimmages, are more frequent and rigorous. Teams have practiced 6 days per week, inclusive of Sunday, 2-3 hours per practice. Practices will start after the teams are announced by mid to late May. Players may also be asked to play positions and fulfill roles that are different than their Regular Season roles.
Unlike the Regular Season, there is no ‘minimum play’ requirement for Defensive Outs in the field. A player may only receive one (1) At-Bat per game. Further, there are very complex rules that greatly restrict the manager from making substitutions as desired. Trust that many of the decisions made by the manager are due to those restrictions. All-Star Team Selection
Players for all of the All-Star teams will be voted in by division managers.
Eligibility for Any All-Star TeamPlayers are selected for the All-Star team based on their performance through the 2024 Season. Player eligibility requirements include:
- Participation in 8 Regular Season games
- Completion of the Parental Commitment Form (this document) prior to the All-Star Selection Meeting.
- Commitment to the team, and disclosure of any known conflicts that could impact the team.

Commitment and Fees
To ensure that LBLL is fielding the most prepared team, players are asked to prioritize their commitment to the All-Star team over any additional commitment, which includes participation in other sports as well as travel. A failure to do so is unfair to teammates and to other players who could fill that spot and do so with a 100% commitment. Please keep in mind the wellbeing of other players when making the decision on whether to commit to All-Stars or not.
All Stars is an exciting and very challenging time for players and parents. Should your child be selected to an All Star team, you realize that he or she is going to go from being one of the stars of the regular season team to one of many stars on a team that represents the entire LBLL population. How you help your child manage this transition is key to how positive the All Star experience will be.
The following is expected of all LBLL players and parents and should seriously be considered before signing this agreement.
- Should your child be selected to an All Star team, your commitment to All Stars runs through your team’s final All Star game and comes before all other sport related obligations or other plans that may interfere with any practices or games. All practices and games require mandatory attendance. Do not plan vacations during these times. You must ensure that your child attends all practices, team functions, and games.
- Once you commit your child to participate in All Stars, you agree to abide by the policies of the team as determined by the All Star Manager.
- You understand there is to be no coaching by parents or shouting of instructions during games or practices. You will not complain or yell at umpires, players, managers, or coaches at any time as this may result in the tournament umpire asking you or the AllStar Manager to leave the field.
- You understand that as an All Star your child represents LBLL and that your behavior will be a reflection of the League.
- While we appreciate the disappointment your child may experience if they are not chosen to start or get to play the positions they played during the regular season, we expect you to maintain a level of objectivity and appreciate the coaching staff’s challenge in deciding playing positions and playing time. You agree to support the All Star players and coaches and put what is best for the team ahead of my own needs.
- You understand that the minimum play time is only one at bat.
- If you need to express any concerns with the manager, we expect that the conversations are held privately and not during or directly before/after games.
