Call for Papers//8th Annual Graduate Workshop on Comparative Historical Research on Europe-- June 18, 2021
We seek applications from advanced graduate students working on comparative historical topics on Europe. The process is open to graduate students working in any discipline in the humanities and social sciences and using any methodology or approach. We are open to work that is concerned both with explaining past outcomes or that looks at the impact of past developments in explaining contemporary outcomes. Priority will be given to advanced doctoral students, but all graduate students at any level of preparation of their dissertation will be considered. Candidates may present work from their dissertations (typically a chapter), or other papers on which they are interested in receiving feedback. We anticipate inviting five to eight students to present their work in an all-day conference to be held on June 18, 2021 through Zoom. Students will be required to provide their written work in advance and to make a short presentation. A faculty mentor will be assigned as discussant and provide in-depth feedback. Additional time will be available for a general discussion of the work with all assembled faculty and graduate students.

This year's participants will include, among others, Amel Ahmed (UMass Amherst), Sener Akturk (Koç University), Michael Bernhard (University of Florida), Alexandra Cirone (Cornell University), Robert Fishman ( Madrid’s Carlos III University), Erika Harris (University of Liverpool), Petia Kostadinova (University of Illinois at Chicago), Marcus Kreuzer (Villanova University), Harris Mylonas (George Washington University), Henry Thomson (Arizona State University), Jason Wittenberg (University of California, Berkeley), Christina Isabel Zuber (University of Konstanz).
