Thank you for your interest in applying to the 2024 CanoeU Scholarship.
The Rapids Riders Canoe and Kayak Club is pleased to offer a limited number of full and partial scholarship opportunities for Black, Indigenous and/or People of Color (BIPOC) who are seeking to grow their canoe or kayak whitewater skills. While previous canoeing or kayaking experience is not necessary, we are looking for people who are passionate about and comfortable in the outdoors.
The Canoe U Scholarship is a tuition scholarship awarded annually and is valid toward CanoeU courses, fees and rental equipment.
Eligibility Criteria
- Self-identified as Black, Indigenous, and/or a Person of Color including Latinx, Asian, mixed race
- 18 years of age or older
- Meet or exceed the listed prerequisites for all American Canoe Association (ACA) courses (See ACA Essential Eligibility Criteria:
americancanoe.org/eec/)
- Financial need
Current Cycle: February 1, 2024 – Feb 29, 2024. Recipients will be announced by the end of March 2024.
The scholarship may be applied to the following courses: Kayak - Whitewater Fundamentals; Canoe - Whitewater Fundamentals (Solo or Tandem); or Canoe - River Canoeing (Solo or Tandem).

Finalists may be asked to participate in an interview prior to the distribution of the scholarship award.
