The Hub is the directional committee of the TQC and is made up of volunteer members. The hub organized along side, provides direction, has a presence in the office and knowledge of institutional history for staff and volunteers. Members of the hub must be committed to the mandate, anti-oppressive policy and strategic direction of the TQC.
The TQC operates under consensus-based decision making. At each meeting, the staff and hub makes decisions through consensus with the aim of engaging in a well thought out and critical process of organizing that ensures the greatest amount of participation.
Some responsibilities that would be consequently defined in our mandate include:
- a duty of care of queer individuals, based on collective care and community growth
- representing the interests of the organisation professionally and personally
- approval and distribution of funds to appropriate channels
- oversight of the TQC staff, members and ideas
- brainstorming initiatives and voicing the concerns of the community
- conflict mediation, dissolution and ensuring consensus and equality within the membership
- anti-oppressive approach to coordination
- ensuring no hierarchy exists between the institution and its members (including those of the hub)
- about 10-14 hrs of commitment per month.
- One project/ event that will be solely yours, run through the school year. Could be community or Trent student based.
