In many majority world countries, women are limited to the role of the housewife and opportunities for women to pursue professional careers are hard to come by. The goal of Camp Xenia is to inspire girls in these countries to pursue STEM by seeing people like them succeed in what seems to be the impossible.

In Camp Xenia, all participants from ATHENA must be from the minority world areas United States, Canada, Australia, and Europe. If you are not from one of these areas, please locate the majority world country application. All applicants will be accepted into Camp Xenia. They will be paired with a female high schooler interested in STEM from a majority world country and participate in remote activities together:

1. Xenia participants hold monthly hour-long two-person video calls with high school girls from majority world countries who are interested in STEM. During these video calls, partners complete prompt-based get-to-know-you activities, prepare presentations on STEM topics, write papers together, and more!

2. Xenia participants will also meet in monthly hour-long group calls where all members from majority and minority world countries present their work, do fun activities such as trivia nights, round-table discussions, and more!

3. Xenia participants will also be offered at least two virtual webinars a week from ATHENA on various topics in STEM.

The program lasts from August to December.
