Individual Risk Acknowledgment & Disclaimer

This is to be completed by all individuals taking part in the river float on the 10/08/2024.

Wye Float priorities safety and strives to minimise risks associated with participating in our activities. While the chances of serious injury are extremely low, there is a possibility of minor injuries such as bruises, bumps, and lacerations. Our team takes measures to reduce actual dangers, and we kindly request that you carefully read and acknowledge the following safety points:

Before starting the river float: 

- All float participants must be at least 12 years old.

- Tie up any long hair, tuck away any necklaces, remove hooped earrings, no open footwear or slip on shoes.

- Any mobile devices such as cameras or mobile phones that you wish to take on the river must be attached to you and secured in a waterproof bag or box. 

- If you are supervising anyone under the age of 18, make sure that you can see clearly at a distance of at least 10m. If you wear glasses, please wear them securely during the event.

- Ensure all of your group can swim at least 25m without any floating aids.

- Event wrist bands must remain on your wrists at all times. 

- Please use designated points to enter or leave the water. 

- Fully inflate your inflatables to the correct pressure (psi) prior to entering the water.


The river route:

- Participants must remain on their inflatables at all times.

- Alcohol is prohibited on the river to prevent any health risks or environmental damages. 

- Respect surrounding areas, avoid dropping litter or leaving floats in the river. 

- Look out for other participants and call for help if required.

- Avoid going through bushes, trees or anything which could cause you inflatable to pop or put yourself or others in danger. 

- Buoyancy aids must stay on, and only taken off once on a solid landing point.

- Strictly no diving or jumping along the route. 


Exit Points:

- Please do not pass the exit point. If you do pass the exit point, you do so at your own risk. 

- Listen to the bank based safety staff for instruction on how and where to exit. 

- Exit quickly and move yourself, and your group, away from the river's edge. 

-Report to the volunteers and make them aware you have reached the finish line.


Please read the following points carefully:

  1. I acknowledge that undertaking the Wye Float 2024 route involves a physically demanding journey and carries a risk to health. For instance, hands and feet may be vulnerable to cuts or injuries from the river bed and surrounding river banks.

  2. To mitigate the risk, I agree to comply with all safety rules and instructions provided by Wye Float, including those given by Wye Float Volunteers and the Safety Team on the day of the event.

  3. If I am assuming responsibility for supervising individuals under the age of 18 in this agreement, I declare that I am 18 years of age or older. I agree no under 12's in my care will be taking part in the inflatable river float. 

  4. I declare that, if I am not the parent or guardian of any individuals under 18, I have obtained the authority from the parent or guardian to sign this risk acknowledgement and disclaimer on their behalf.

  5. In the event of an accident, loss, or damage to personal belongings of myself or the children under my care, I acknowledge that Wye Float will not be held liable for any direct or indirect loss, damage, or injury occurring within the Wye Float events area, in the river, or on the river bank. I hereby waive all claims against Wye Float in this regard, both for myself and for any individuals under 18 in my care.

  6. I certify, to the best of my knowledge, that neither I nor any individuals under 18 in my care have any medical conditions that would increase the likelihood of sustaining an injury. Additionally, to the best of my knowledge, neither I nor any individuals under 18 in my care are pregnant.

  7. I confirm that I will not be able to participate if any member of my group is under the influence of alcohol or drugs and agree to be removed from the event deemed nessessary by the security team. 

  8. I acknowledge that both I and any individuals under 18 in my care (if applicable) have received, read, and understood the Safety Rules provided for this activity.

  9. I understand that Wye Float may capture photographs or videos of participants during the event. While Wye Float may not always have the opportunity to seek my explicit permission, I acknowledge that Wye Float will make efforts to inform me whenever possible.

By acknowledging these safety points, I confirm that I have understood and accepted the potential risks associated with participating in Wye Float activities.
