Outcome – Building your relationship with the girls and our understanding of their motivations and challenges for the girls in your school (this will help us with what a School Games event should feel like) Suggested questions to ask were: • What do you enjoy doing that keeps you active? Why? • When you’re thinking about being active is there anything that you don’t like or worry about? Why? What would you change about it? • Is there anything that you think is important about your religious or cultural beliefs that encourage or discourage you from being active or getting involved in sport? • What stops you being more active out of school? Outcome – Co-designing the Girls Active School Games Event 2025. Suggested questions to ask were: • In your opinion what should the Girls Active School Games event support the development of (rank in order of which you think are the most important to develop in the least active girls). Why do you think this? i. More body confident ii. Better leadership skills (this could be through delivering a practical session, umpiring, keeping score, helping with the organising etc.) iii. Have more confidence and self-belief iv. Communication skills v. Are more resilience, which means you keep trying when they have a set back or don’t do as they’d hoped vi. Increased your ability to work with others as part of a team vii. Ways of using activity to help with mental wellbeing viii. Knowledge of why being active is important ix. Physical skills, so be coaches in a sport or activity to get better at it x. Other • What should the event be called? Do you have any great ideas to share? • T shirt design – what 3 words do you think would inspire girls to be active? • What goodies to take away from the event do you think the girls would like? • How will we know if the event has been a success? • Should the event have a competitive element to it or focus on personal best i.e. competing against yourself? • Would you like to stay with your school or mix it up a bit? • What DON’T you want it to look/feel like? • What would you like in advance to support you to feel ready for the event? • If there were to be awards, what would you like those to be like? (categories etc) • What might the activities look like, that support the intent, for example what activity might help build teamwork?
