Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the Career Interview Fair on Friday, May 17th, 2024!
Overview of the event:
Volunteers will arrive at FRCS at 8:00 am at which time they will be given event materials and be filled in on the morning's events. At 8:30, professionals will join their small group of students in the gymnasium (4-5 students). Professionals will share with their students about what they do for work, and about their career journey. Then (when prompted by the event coordinator) professionals will begin the interview. A list of questions to ask will be provided, as well as a rubric for scoring. After the interview, professionals will mark their final scores, write feedback for each student they interviewed, and decide who they are going to mock hire. The high school principal will then announce the names of all students who were hired and invite them and their professional to a luncheon immediately following. This event (including lunch) is set to be wrapped up by 12:00.
In order to create an environment that allows our students to walk into the event with the most confidence, prior to the event each student will have chosen a career of their own interest that they are intending to interview for. Volunteers will not be assessing the student's knowledge of their chosen career, rather they will be assessing students on the quality of their ability to successfully interview (appearance, articulation, confidence etc.)
