Creating Videos with Panopto (in Canvas!)
November 5, 10:00am-10:50am - Learn the basics in Panopto, the newest HSU video tool. And see some samples from faculty/staff that have been testing the tool. Why use Panopto? Connecting with students in substantive ways is continually part of being a critically reflective practitioner. Teaching and learning technologies offer solid platforms to connect and engage with students, offering meaningful content in video/text format. Panopto is one of those. We think you will find this tool to have considerable advantages. Highly regarded in higher education, the CTL will work with you to explore Panopto.

Creating a Humanized Liquid Syllabus
November 5, 10:00-11:00am.  The Liquid Syllabus is a web-based, mobile-responsive, smaller version of your syllabus that contains essential information students need before they login so they can be successful in week one. This strategy is known as pre-course contact. Making contact with your students prior to the first week of your course is one humanizing practice that can clarify expectations, reduce ambiguities and anxieties associated with the beginning of a course, and get students off to a successful start. Come create a Humanized Liquid Syllabus with seven critical components.    *Be sure to activate your GoogleSites account before the workshop at: https://its.humboldt.edu/apps-software-file-storage/activating-your-site.

Integrating Peer Support Into the Classroom: How to Build a More Equitable Learning Environment
November 15, 12:00am-12:50am - Students who seek and receive academic peer support have better educational outcomes than those who don't, yet first generation and minoritized students are less likely to ask for help when they need it. By integrating peer support into courses, faculty can help create institutional change that provides an equitable learning environment for all students. Join us to hear from HSU faculty, Learning Center staff, and peer educators about the what, when, why, and how of integrating peer support to varying degrees and in different ways.
