This year, the Region is trying something new in an effort to streamline tournament selection at the B, C and FUN levels to promote fairness to athletes and tournaments - the goal is to insure that one team doesn't get into 5 tournaments while the next only gets into 1.
This year there is once again a cap on the number of tournaments that a team can attend. We will be able to track tournament attendance to insure that no team runs into the situation of having to miss their home tournament as they have attended too many tournaments.
The tournament caps are:
U12 - maximum of 5 tournaments including year end
FUN3 - maximum of 5 tournaments including year end
FUN2 - maximum of 5 tournaments including year end
NOTE: Every team will automatically be scheduled into a year end event of their choice later in the season once the teams have more information regarding Provincial year end Events.
Please select your top six tournament selections ranked in order of preference, not according to when they fall in the calendar. Do so by typing 1 below your first selection, 2 below your second selection, etc.
Please consider your ranking of preference very carefully when making your selections. The priority when assigning teams to tournaments will be to maximize exposure (not fun to play the same teams at every tournament) and to try to level out attendance. To accomplish this, teams will be sent to any of the tournaments they submit regardless of the ranking assigned to the tournament.
Selections are to be submitted by October 1st. Late submissions will be considered on a case by case basis, For example, if a team decides later in the year they want to add a tournament, they can submit the request and if they are within the limit regarding the cap and the tournament has space left, they will be accommodated.
