Each month, PEER Ambassadors are expected to complete a set of Core PEER Ambassador Responsibilities as well as Four Additional Activities of their choosing ("Core Plus Four").
Core PEER Ambassador Responsibilities Include:
* Check-in monthly with their Host Site Supervisor
* Check in regularly with the Program Coordinator
* Actively participate in regular PEER Ambassador Team Meetings
* Actively participate in one of the Communities That Care Coalition's Workgroups (such as the Parent and Family Engagement Workgroup, the Regional Policy and Norms Workgroup, and the Racial Justice Workgroup). Provide input into the development of new CTC and PEER Ambassador initiatives.
Additional Activities:
Each month, PEER Ambassadors shall participate in an additional FOUR or more activities of their choosing, beyond the core responsibilities listed above, including a combination of input, outreach, learning, and advocacy:
INPUT: Actively participate in community meetings, boards, committees, advisories, etc., providing feedback based on personal and professional experiences and opinions in order to improve community programs, policies, and services. This can include additional CTC Workgroups, boards and committees at Host Sites, and other community boards and committees.
OUTREACH: Reach out to other Franklin County and North Quabbin parents through tabling at events, sharing notices and messages on social media, providing information at small group gatherings, holding one-on-one meetings, etc. Share resources with and get input from other parents and caregivers. Represent the PEER Ambassador Program in the community. Assist with events and programs for parents and families (through CTC, through Host Sites, etc.) as opportunities arise.
LEARNING: Participate in trainings, workshops, and professional development opportunities as they arise to continue learning about best practices in substance use prevention, youth development, parenting, outreach, and other topics of interest.
ADVOCACY: Speak at town meetings and congressional hearings, call legislators, write letters, and spread messages to help promote policies that support healthy youth and families.
PEER Ambassadors will have the ability to:
* Work well as part of a group;
* Treat other PEER Ambassadors, program staff, and community members from diverse backgrounds with dignity and respect;
* See beyond their own experiences to represent not just their own interests but also those of other residents and community members;
* Share both positive and negative feedback constructively;
* Request specific accommodations needed to maximize meeting participation.
The Communities That Care Coalition will provide:
* Training in community resources, online resources, and outreach and advocacy skills
* Access to CTC’s network of community partners
* Opportunities for PEER Ambassadors to provide outreach in the community
* Opportunities for ongoing learning
* A Chromebook to use while you are a part of the program
Your Host Site will provide:
* Regular check-ins
* Supervision
* Support
Your Host Site, as a member of the Communities That Care Coalition, has received funding through the Franklin Regional Council of Governments to support PEER Ambassadors to volunteer with the Parent Education Workgroup and provide outreach to other parents.
The Franklin Regional Council of Governments, your Host Site, or you may exit this agreement at any time due to lack of funding, time, or any other reason.
