A Survey of Language Servers

This survey is part of an exploratory study of practices for engineering the editing support for software languages. The long-term goal is to build better methods and tools for language engineering, which requires proper infrastructure for using them. To this end, we strive to understand the existing practices by studying real language servers and surveying their developers.

The survey will take approximately 12 minutes to complete and asks about your practices in planning, designing, implementing, testing, as well as maintaining and evolving your LSP. We also ask about challenges you faced, as well as suggestions for improving language and LSP engineering. We will keep your responses confidential and only store them for analysis. The report will only contain aggregated summaries of the responses, and anonymized quotes.

Please let us know if you have any questions. You can visit our project website at https://se.rub.de/software-languages/ or contact directly <dennis.fischer-u7v@ruhr-uni-bochum.de>. Thank you in advance for your valuable contribution. Your participation will significantly contribute to advancing the field of language editing support.

Sincerely,
