CLASSES:

Somatics- Pilates with Jennifer Binversie
Jennifer completed her comprehensive training with Polestar Pilates. In this class there will be a focus on  proper alignment and precision in movement as a means of feeling better in one’s body. Bring your mat and be ready to find engagement in your abs, arms, and legs as you isolate micro-muscles that can otherwise be forgotten!

Technique- Modern/Contemporary with Jenna Gross
Jenna’s class will utilize improvisation and bartenieff fundamentals to explore functional athletic movement. These exercises will then lead into phrase material that finds the quirks and oddities within technique.

Composition- Style, Tools and Tips with Natalie Johnson
Caught up in your head? Bored with the same pattern repeating? Dependent on the same making technique? This class will focus on giving dancers new tools for phrase-building that will help break you out of your stuck points. The techniques taught are ones that we use directly for building company repertory, so you will get a true insight into the NJD style of creating!

Repertory- Company Rep with Natalie Johnson
Natalie will lead the class in learning an athletic, quick-paced, and detailed excerpt from "Imagined Warmth". Fun, satisfying, and aerobically challenging, this class will get you sweating and thinking!

Somatics- Conditioning with Searlait Carr
A  combination of Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) and 11+ Dance, this is an injury prevention class created for dancers.  Based on best practice and scientific evidence on injuries in dance, this program focuses on: ankle, knee and hip stability; muscular endurance; and jumping and landing control.

Technique- Contemporary floor-work with Jill MacLaughlin
Jillian’s floor work class will be an indulgent exploration of safe and athletic movement on the floor. Dancers will focus on full-body connectivity, momentum and grounding to promote efficient and sound usage of the moving body on the lower plane.

Composition- Gesture and Detail with Natalie Johnson
Natalie's choreography is notable for its detailed gesture work, intricate arm sequences, and subtle hand shapes. Come learn her technique for creating these kinds of phrases, how to give gesture meaning and specificity, and how to elevate the pedestrian to stunning craft.

Repertory- Company Rep with Natalie Johnson
Natalie will lead the class in learning a highly detailed, mostly-stationary arm phrase from our newest Work-in-Progress. Intricate, playful, and asymmetrical, this repertory is a great example of Natalie's indulgent style and special interest in gesture meeting language.
