Scholarship Application Form for Cannon Music Camp

You can use this form to apply for a camp scholarship

What to Submit in the Form
- Include a performance video! We will need to hear your performance to effectively consider musical skills in your scholarship offer. (Students who already auditioned for a camp staff member in person this school year, or who have already received an offer from us this year, may choose to submit a video or not. It is still a good idea to submit a video.)
- We highly recommend answering the written questions thoroughly and with your best writing to help us understand why you are applying for a scholarship. (This could be related to your musical accomplishments and/or financial need, whichever applies to you.)

Application Process
- You can submit this scholarship form either before or after applying to camp.
- A scholarship or increase to your scholarship is not guaranteed.
- Submissions typically receive a response from the camp within 2-3 weeks.
- If we are able to offer a higher scholarship, you may also have a shortened deadline to accept the scholarship.
- Please only submit the Scholarship Application Form form once per year of camp. Be sure to include all of the relevant information the first time. Submitting it more than once will not result in more scholarship funding.
- Scholarships from Cannon cannot be added together. When you apply to camp, we will use the highest single offer you received from us. (If your scholarship increases after a scholarship was applied to your account, the next discount will be the difference between the old and new offers.)
- Apply early! The final scholarship deadline is March 15, or when all of our scholarship money has been given away - whichever comes first! (Some scholarships have earlier deadlines, which will be stated in the offer if so.)
- If you receive a scholarship offer, it is NOT guaranteed nor applied to your account until you have completed ALL application steps and been accepted to camp. After acceptance to camp, it may take 2 weeks for you to see a scholarship discount reflected in your account.
- Scholarship terms may apply, such as staying in touch with the camp office leading up to camp, writing a thank-you note, and/or visiting with a donor at camp. These will be shared in the offer letter if applicable.

Don't forget to finish your camp application and deposit!
Completing this form, attending an audition site, or receiving a scholarship offer DOES NOT SECURE a place for you at camp. You will need to APPLY through the application process at cannon.appstate.edu/apply to secure a space in your performance area for camp. Some instrument areas fill in February, well before the scholarship deadline.

HOW TO SUBMIT A PERFORMANCE VIDEO
STEP 1: Sign Up for a YouTube Account
To sign up, click "Sign In" in the upper right corner of YouTube. Then follow the steps below depending on whether you have a Google Account:

• If you have a YouTube or Google Account - just sign in with your email address and password.
• If you don't have a Google Account - click Create Account. You can then enter some basic information to create your new Google Account. You'll be asked to create a Google username when signing up. This is for your new Gmail email address only - it will not be your public name on YouTube. Once you're done setting up your Google Account, click Back to YouTube to get started with your new account.
STEP 2: Record Your Video
  1. Dress for your audition as if it were a live audition.
  2. Record your video in an appropriate space.
  3. You can record a video from your phone or webcam. The format is not important as long as the video can be uploaded to YouTube and the video and audio quality is sufficient to get a good impression of your performance.
  4. Before beginning your performance, announce your selection by saying the title of the piece, movement (if applicable), and composer.
STEP 3: Upload Your Video
Upload and Send Your Video (Paste the link into this form)
  1. Sign into YouTube with your Google Account.
  2. Click the Upload link at the top of the page.
  3. Set up your channel (if you do not have one) and begin uploading to YouTube. Your channel name is how you are searched. It is not important to us since your video is unlisted.
  4. Select the video you'd like to upload from your phone or computer.
  5. Title your video with your name and instrument.
  6. While video is uploading, look under Basic Info and choose to change your Share Preferences. It may automatically share to Google +, so just uncheck that box and any others.
  7. Also while in Basic Info, click on Privacy Settings tab and change it from PUBLIC to UNLISTED. (Do not use PRIVATE.)
  8. In Advanced Settings - When you upload a public video, your subscribers (if any) will automatically be notified. Since this is unlisted, it should not be an issue, just remember to un-tick Notify Subscribers.
  9. While it is uploading, the video link can be found to the right of your upload. You can also find the video link at the VIDEO URL in the Video Manager section. Please VIEW the video before you send us the link. You can now copy and paste that link into this scholarship form. 
Once the upload is completed, YouTube will send you an email to notify you that your video is done uploading and processing. DO NOT send this email to Cannon Music Camp or the audition requestor! Instead, please go back to your video as indicated in step #9 and share the LINK from the YouTube video.
