MTLE Faculty Writing Groups - Interest / Inquiry Form
We've included additional information about organizing faculty writing groups at this page, which we will continue to expand: https://wisc.pb.unizin.org/mtle/chapter/faculty-writing-groups/

The form below includes shorter descriptions of different writing group structures. Filling out this form doesn't commit you to joining a writing group. (Nor, alas, does it guarantee that the ideal structure for you will be possible for other folks!)

However, it does help us identify whether there are patterns in your interest areas that might allow effective faculty writing groups to form. I can follow up with additional information about these patterns and share concrete resources for forming these writing groups. From there,  you can decide on the next steps that are best for you.

Description of writing group types
*Approach 1-- Accountability / “Check-In” Writing Groups*

Faculty set goals and share their progress with other faculty. Participants report back on their progress with a small, supportive group of peers. Reporting to this group of peers increases their accountability to meet the goals they outlined for themselves.

*Approach 2 -- Approach 2: Feedback/Writing Exchange Partners*

Faculty form pairs or smaller groups (2-5 people) to exchange pieces of writing of moderate length.
Before exchanging pieces, faculty discuss what kinds of feedback they’d like to receive and what kinds of feedback they’re able to provide for others. Note: We encourage you to ask for and provide feedback about factors such as paragraph and sentence clarity rather than asking your colleagues for advice about discipline-specific issues or proofreading. (However, if you’re willing to provide one another with discipline-specific feedback or proofreading, you’re welcome to discuss that together.)
