2019-2020 New Student Selective Enrollment Request (Out of District Transfer)
Cedar Hill ISD accepts requests for selective enrollment transfers for students who DO NOT RESIDE in the CHISD school zone. The number of openings for selective enrollment students is limited and will be determined by a CHISD District Matrix based upon the student's discipline, academic, and attendance history as well as the class availability at the campus.

Transportation
Any student who requests and accepts a transfer to a school through the selective enrollment process shall be required to provide his or her own transportation to and from school. CHISD WILL NOT provide any transportation at any time.
Application Standards
All applications for selective enrollment are required to meet the following standards:

* The student must have 95% attendance from the previous semester and the most recent six week period.

* The student must be passing or have passed all classes for the current and prior semester.

* The student must have passed all portions of their latest state test/assessment exam (STAAR and/or EOC). Students from home school, private school, or non-accredited schools must show satisfactory scores on standardized achievement tests at the 50th percentile or above and/or successful achievement on district delivered academic test.

* The student may have no more than one (1) disciplinary infraction from the previous semester and the most recent six week period of time. That disciplinary infraction must not have included out of school suspension or infractions that result in assignment to an alternative education setting (DAEP) or expulsion (JJAEP).
Required Documents
Parents MUST provide a copy to the campus; CHISD WILL NOT request these documents from previous school/district. Transfer requests will not be reviewed until the following documents are received:

* Final Report Card (1st-8th Grade)
* Student Transcript (9th-12th Grade)
* Most recent Test Scores
* Current Discipline Record or Letter Indicating No Discipline from previous school
* Current Attendance Record
Approval/Denial Process
Students will be approved for admission based on space, program availability, and upon meeting ALL required criteria. Parents will be notified by letter or phone call of acceptance or denial of application. We do not recommend a student withdraw from their current school until they are approved. A student being withdrawn from their current school will NOT speed up the application process. Once the completed request is received, parent notification may take 5-7 business days.
Procedures for Revoking Selective Enrollment Transfers
* Campus administrator must notify the parent via written communication with the reason for revocation during the second semester of the school year.

* Once a student has received a revocation of their Selective Enrollment transfer, they are NOT allowed to re-apply for at least one (1) school year.

Parent Acknowledgement
I understand that, if approved, the transfer is granted conditionally based on the following criteria: program availability, discipline history, academic performance, and attendance, including tardies. The transfer may be revoked based on Board Policy FDA (Local), to the extent permitted by law. Transfer students are reviewed annually and MUST complete a renewal contract for any future school years. I understand that transportation to the requested school is my responsibility. I understand that falsification of information is a Class A Misdemeanor and can lead to legal action. I have read and understand the District policy on out of district transfers. I agree to abide by all rules and regulations set forth in this policy. I understand that, as a transfer student, school placement may be changed to accommodate resident students. I have been informed that, in some cases, previously approved transfers may be revoked by an administrator.
