Gratitude Run Volunteer Application
Thank you for your interest in volunteering for our 2023 Gratitude Run hosted at the Rochester Rotary Sunshine Camp!

The race is on Thanksgiving, November 23, 2023. We will start the 50m Kids dash at 8:00 am, followed by the 5K and 1M walk. We plan to be wrapped up by 10:30 am. 

Every volunteer will receive a free Gratitude Run shirt.

Volunteer Opportunities

Packet Pickup volunteers: Early packet pick-up on Wednesday, November 22 (the day before the event.) Location TBD. 2hr shifts from 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Duties include organizing/handing out shirts, assigning runners/walkers their bib numbers, greeting participants, and providing race information.

Registration table volunteers: Duties include organizing/handing out shirts, assigning runners/walkers their bib numbers, greeting participants, and answering questions/providing race information.

Start and Finish line volunteers: Start Line: Help move runners/walkers to the start line. Finish Line: Hand runner’s cold bottles of water and keep them moving efficiently through the finish line, directing runners to the post-race area where they can grab food and greet their family / friends. Duties also include opening cases and restocking bottled water.​

Hydration Stop volunteers: This key role is not just about providing hydration support — but moral support and encouragement! Duties include filling and stacking cups with water or gatorade, restocking cups throughout the course of the morning, handing drinks to runners as they come by, and finally cleaning up the area (cups) when the last runner passes.

Set-up and Clean-up: We'll need help setting up the course (Arch, timing strip, registration tables, tents, and tables on the course, signs) as well as taking everything down.

Volunteer Guidelines

As a volunteer, you are an ambassador for OBF and should treat all people at the event with the utmost courtesy and respect.

The attire should include comfortable clothes and shoes.

Be prepared to answer many types of questions. Familiarize yourself with the course map and schedule of events. You'll find this information at oliviabethmann.fitness/gratitude-run, on our Facebook, or Instagram page.

Once you sign up, we depend on your commitment to being a part of the Gratitude Run Run. Your prompt arrival and completion of your shift are vital to the success.

If it is the day of your scheduled shift and you find you cannot make it, please be considerate and contact gratitude.runroc@gmail.com so we can adjust our roster.

The Gratitude Run will take place in rain or snow. We will cancel the event if there are storms and/or it us unsafe for participants. Please check the weather and dress accordingly.

You may not consume any alcoholic beverages or smoke during your volunteer shift.

Children under the age of 14 may not participate as a solo volunteer and must be accompanied by an adult.

Pets are not allowed with you during your volunteer shift.

Depending on race needs, volunteer assignments may be reallocated — please be flexible.

Gratitude Run and OBF reserves the right to search any bags for security reasons.

Gratitude Run, OBF, and the Rochester Rotary Sunshine Camp are not responsible for any lost or stolen items.

I assume all risks associated with volunteering for this event, including but no limited to: falls, physical contact with other participants, race personnel, contract service providers, employees, and spectators including the potential the contraction of a communicable disease resulting from contact with other participants, volunteers, race personnel, contract service providers, employees, and spectators. I assume all risks including: the effects of the weather; high heat and/or humidity; freezing cold temperatures; traffic and the conditions of the road including surrounding terrain. I further agree to abide by the Center for Disease Control’s (CDC) recommendations for the prevention of the spread of COVID-19 and other communicable diseases, and I attest to having read the CDC’s guidance at: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-nCoV/index.html. I assume all such risks being known, appreciated, and accepted by me.

I understand that bicycles, skateboards, baby joggers/strollers, roller skates or inline skates, animals, and personal music players are not allowed in the race, and I will abide by all race rules. Having read this waiver and knowing these facts and inconsideration of your accepting my entry, I, for myself and anyone entitled to act on my behalf, waive and release the Gratitude Run, the Town of Rush, Rochester Rotary Sunshine Camp, all event sponsors, their representatives and successors from all claims or liabilities of any kind arising out of my participation in this event, even though that liability may arise out of negligence or carelessness on the part of the persons named in this waiver. In addition, I acknowledge the contagious nature of COVID-19 and other communicable diseases and voluntarily assume the risk that I may be exposed to or infected by COVID-19 and/or other communicable diseases by participating in this event. I acknowledge that such exposure or infection may result in personal injury, illness, permanent disability, and/or death. I understand that the risk of becoming exposed to or infected by COVID-19 in connection with my participation in this event and personally assume this risk.

I grant permission to all of the foregoing to use my photographs, motion pictures, recordings or any other record of this event for any legitimate purposes.
