The following application is for Lay Reviewers of Grey Matters TU.
Lay Reviewers have the following responsibilities:
1. Asking for clarification for scientific concepts you felt the article did not explain enough.
2. Suggesting revisions for wording or vocabulary that people without a science background might not understand.

You are expected to make weekly edits on one article. Ideally, you will commit at least 1 hour per week for a 6 week duration. You will be cited as a general editor on the article.

Deadline: Wednesday, January 24th at 11:59PM

You will hear back from us by Tuesday, January 30th.

Please summarize your interest in the Lay Editor position in our publication. (100-150 words) *
List some relevant experiences (eg: coursework, general research/fieldwork experiences, and other extracurriculars) (100-150 words) *
Please explain a scientific concept in 250 words or less as if you were talking to someone without a science background. This will help communicate your understanding of layman's terms.
 Ex: explain Action Potential, Broca's area, disease pathology and symptoms, or opioid addiction. *
I am able to commit 1 hour per week (for a 6 week duration) for lay review. *
I confirm that I can attend the mandatory Lay Review workshop on Friday, 2/2. If you have a conflict, please let us know in "Other". *

In the case that we receive too few or too many applications for a specific editor position, Grey Matters TU reserves the right to assign you to a different position in order to ensure that all article groups have at least one of each type of reviewer. The available positions are: Lay Reviewer, Scientific Reviewer, and General Editor (see descriptions below).
