Admission Contract
2021-2022

This contract outlines expectations for parents and students who have opted to participate in the Mount Zion High Virtual Learning Academy.

Student Expectations:
Adhere to the Code of Conduct and Acceptable Use Policy while participating in virtual classes.
Actively participate in all required instructional assignments in Edgeunity during the scheduled times.
Attend all virtual meetings, when required.
Complete and submit all coursework on time.
Communicate with support staff and peers in a respectful manner.
Exhibit excellent behavior at all times where access to technology is concerned.
Ensure that you have access to online courses, and can complete assignments.
Acknowledge that the school district has access to your schoolwork and comments posted within the online courses.

Parent Expectations:
Ensure that your child has the necessary equipment and internet access to participate in virtual courses..
Provide your student with a safe and appropriate place to work while at home.
Ensure that your student has sufficient time in his/her schedule to work each day on the scheduled courses.
Become familiar with Edgenuity Platform,  Infinite Campus Parent Portal, as well as progress reports, and ask your child to show you his/her coursework and progress.
Encourage your child to seek help from the school and support staff, as needed.
Ensure that all tests and work are completed by your child without the aid of others.
Be aware of all deadlines.
Communicate academic concerns with school support staff as necessary.

School Expectations: Students and parents can expect...
The school will develop and explain the virtual instructional program process and expectations so that students and parents can make informed decisions.
Teachers and support staff will be available during scheduled hours (as communicated by the teacher) to provide academic assistance when needed.
If the student has an active 504 Plan or IEP, the district will help determine if the accommodations and support can be delivered virtually or if they will have to be modified.
When students select the option to participate in the Virtual learning Academy, they must remain enrolled virtually for the entire semester.

*Students and parents fully acknowledge that success is largely dependent upon the work and effort put forth by the student.  

*Note: Any required Standardized Testing (i.e. GMAS/EOC, MAP, PSAT, etc.) will be conducted in person only. Therefore, VLA students will have to report to school for testing.

The school reserves the right to withdraw students who do not adhere to the listed expectations, exhibit poor attendance and struggle academically. Students will be required to attend school in-person.
