DHS Sports Fundraising Golf Tournament - 'Our Goal is to help our Rangatahi Achieve theirs'
Sport plays an important part in the live of our children so it is essential that they have the opportunities to participate in regular physical activities. To do this we need to ensure that we have the funding available to deliver these opportunities and for it to be available to all students.

It been an excessively busy year, with this being our 3rd attempt to run our Annual Golf Tournament in 2023.  The main reason is due to the lift in Covid/sickness procedures and for the first time in 3 years all events across the school have been able to go ahead.  To date we have seen a marked increase in the number of students participating in some form of physical activity.  This year alone we have managed over 80 sporting groups with a term still to go.  This week, we have over 240  (90%) of our year 7 and 8 students taking part in, cost of $19000 for this three local event!

Details for this years tournament

Friday 6th October
Greendale Golf Club
11am Multi tee Start

Sport is an extra curricular activity (user pays) and with the increase in the cost of living, having to pay for school sport is not a priority, therefore students miss out, not only the physical wellbeing, but the fun and enjoyment.

Currently funding is becoming harder to get, especially in our area where funds are limited and need to be spread across other clubs and organisations.

What we spend our funding on:
Transport - nearly $50000
Entry Fees - team fees range from $1000 to $50 per team
Wages for 2 part time staff (not funded by MOE), currently 10 per person per week
Equipment
Student support (regional, national or international DHS representation)
Hardship Grants

Funding received to date this year
Westview 27000 - we are grateful to Westview for their support over that past two years - this fund is no longer available for our Sports Programme, we need to find another source so we can continue to deliver and build on the what we have achieved over the past three years.
7500 Kiwi Gaming - Winter Tournament Teams - Three teams, Netball, U15 Rugby and Hockey - total cost just on $24000 for the three teams to travel away
Pub Charity - $4000 to implement a new Sport website with all sporting info, registrations, freeing up administration processes allowing staff more time to support our students.  This will go live in the coming weeks.

Fundraising 2023
Calendar Raffle $16000 -spread across all groups and sports
Mega Raffle $11000 - Winter Tournament Teams and Koru Games
Donut Trailer - $1000
Highland Games Help - $1000
Sausage sizzles - all teams help to raise funds to reduce their costs
Just to name a few

Our estimated costs in 2024 are around the $80000 to $90000 range - this is significant but it is reality - we need to invest in the future of our students and sport plays a big part, any support if appreciated

We invite you and your business to support our event.  Working with our tamariki and rangatahi, helping to keep them active and achieve their goals, while being able to offer many opportunities to participate in sports, is very satisfying and rewarding.

Anyone or business that supports our tournament will get special mention on our schools facebook page, website,  school news articles as well as exposure to the players who play in the tournament on the day.

There are several ways you could contribute
