Avondale Presbyterian Church Basketball Ministry provides Christian fellowship for children and teenagers, helping them to grow in mind, body, and spirit in a safe and healthy atmosphere.

Avondale teams are some of over 200 teams fielded in the Playbook for Life Ministries Youth Basketball League. This league is comprised of numerous denominational churches. The purpose of the league is to provide a ministry opportunity for each church and to allow youth to play in a competitive, but wholesome environment where the character of Christ is displayed.

Practices, Games and Coaches
Membership at Avondale is not required to participate on a team. Teams practice once a week (Mon-Fri) for 1 hour usually starting in November. Games begin in early December and run through early March. Games are played at various church gym sites around Charlotte including Avondale. Teams, other than “AA” Division, conclude their season with an end-of-season celebration in March.

All coaches must meet the requirements of Avondale’s Child Protection Policy and must complete Child Protection Policy Training. Coaches set the tone with their leadership and character. Their actions and words directly influence the behavior of their team. We seek coaches who will not only teach fundamental skills, but who will more importantly serve as positive Christian role models for the children and youth. Coaches are expected to demonstrate good sportsmanship among peers and opponents. Brief devotions are held prior to each practice and games open with prayer.

We ask Players and Parents to read the "Pact" on the Registration Form. This league values good sportsmanship, kind and encouraging behavior, and respect for all - in addition to developing young people through athletics to become Christ-like and fostering skill-building, motivation, and self-esteem.
REGISTRATION & FEES
October 14 is the due date* for registration (form and payment):
     - Church Members - $100
     - Non-members - $150
After the October 14 deadline:
     - *Late payment or late registration - $175

Church will provide jerseys for games to be returned at end of season.

SPACES LIMITED - REGISTER EARLY!
Participation will be available to Avondale Members and guests depending on space availability. In order to keep teams to a manageable coaching size, waiting lists will be used as an age group fills up. Teams will have no more than 12 players.

Registration does not guarantee a spot on a team as team formation depends on the numbers registered and having coaches. We do our best to accommodate all interested. Volunteer coaches are welcomed! Come make a difference in a kids’ life.

I commit to regular attendance at practices and games. I will respect all coaches, players, parents, and officials. I will respect all church facility rules and regulations, at Avondale and other facilities. As part of an Avondale team, I will be kind and encouraging to all players in the league. Playbook for Life Ministries offers accident insurance from Nationwide Group Protector. The policy covers up to $25,000 beyond your primary medical insurance with a $50.00 deductible.

16-18 years: $6.60

In the event of an emergency, if I cannot be located, I grant my permission for the staff/coach to administer first aid and/or to transport my child to the nearest facility for treatment. *
