Shift Bristol Inclusion Questionnaire
Hi there,

Thanks for taking the time to fill out this questionnaire (should take about 15-20 mins, but please give yourself time around that to consider your responses and rest/reflection time after filling out the questionnaire).

My name is Yassine, from Confronting Change EDI Strategies, and I am supporting Shift Bristol with inclusion audit, designed to gain an understanding of what it's like to work/volunteer with Shift, or participate on a course as a student.

As valued members of the Shift Bristol community,  your responses to this questionnaire will help me gain a sense of what the organizational culture is like, particularly for those who come from marginalized backgrounds or who are categorized into social groups that are historically and socially marginalized. You may also wish to fill out this survey if you do not come from a marginalized background or belong to social groups that traditionally hold power, as your understanding of inclusion practices and the organizational culture at Shift will still provide valuable insights.

The information collected here is confidential and anonymous (unless you make identifying statements, but these will not be included in the final report). You can also state next to your response if you want something you share to remain off the record or not fed back to the Management Team, but you still think it might still be useful information for me to know. It will only be seen by me.

The information recorded here will help contribute to a report, that will be sent to the Management Team, to help drive Shift Bristol's inclusion work in the right direction. Please answer as thoroughly as you are comfortable to share with us, and in as much detail as possible to clarify the issue/experience you are sharing. For myself as an external consultant, this helps to create a clear picture of what is happening within the organization, but we will aim to remove any identifying information from the final report.

Please bear in mind that reflecting on these issues may raise some difficult feelings. Make sure you put in some time for self care afterwards, perhaps have someone you can talk about anything that might come up or some time for reflection.

Remember, this survey is a place to gather data and information, but unfortunately we are not able to escalate any issues or incidents that are highlighted here. If you would like support or to escalate something, please do get in touch with Laura Corfield, Director at Shift Bristol: laura@shiftbristol.org.uk. If you would prefer to raise this with another Shift Bristol director, please get in touch with me directly to arrange.

The survey is an anonymous tool that everyone can feed into, but there will also be opportunities for further online discussions in a focus group or a 1-2-1 interview. Focus groups will be for 3-5 participants for about an hour and can be a helpful space to discuss shared experiences and reflect on the experiences of others. We will also be running shorter 1-2-1 conversations with me, which will last about 30 mins. In these spaces, you may want to explore some of your personal experiences in greater detail. As there will be other participants present in the focus groups, we cannot provide anonymity, but will ask all participants to maintain confidentiality of anything discussed in those spaces. You may participate in neither, both or either. More information about how to join those will follow soon.

If you would prefer, you may record your answers in a voice note, and email directly to me, but please note, this will impact the anonymous nature of the survey. If you have anything more you want to discuss that isn't covered in these forms, or which you weren't comfortable to share in this way, you can email me at ytsenghor@confrontingchange.com

The survey will be open until the 17th May.

Please be as open as possible.

Thanks once again for filling this in.

Cheers,
Yassine
