The ✟ LOV Verbum Dei  (LOVVD) Ministry, officially launched on Ash Wednesday 2021 (17th February), is a ministry composed of different teams, each dedicated to providing resources for our already existing families, made up of both national (UK) and international members. Fundamentally, the ministry brings people together in prayer, fellowship and study of the Word of God. Through intercessory prayer, meditations, and sacred music, it has at the heart of the mission the fulfilment of the three founding principles of the meaning of 'LOV', an acronym represented in the logo by the three icons referring to:

  • READING (LEGERE) the Word of God and experiencing the presence of our Lord speaking to us through scriptures,
  • PRAYING (ORARE) for each family member and their prayer intentions daily, weekly and for special church celebrations, and
  • LIVING (VIVERE) the Gospel and becoming beacons of Christ's light and love where we are, especially by helping the poor and marginalised members of our communities and showing to everyone the loving heart of Jesus by who we are, what we do and what we say.

Our goal is to create a network that will enable us all to prayerfully connect parishioners together. We are already doing this with three communities which are Osmotherley (Diocese of Middlesbrough), the Legion of Mary at St Teresa’s Church (Clifton Diocese) and the Living Water Community in Trinidad and Tobago. We are welcoming new communities to join our chain of prayer at any time.

We are also collaborating with another Catholic ministry called "Logical Bible Study" which spreads the Word of God. Based in Australia, it focuses on reading the Word of God being read at mass and doing an Exegesis on it verse by verse and relating it to the catechism. Go and listen to it here!

Above all, we want to engage with parishes, communities, groups, individuals willing to become the instruments, the missionary disciples God needs to build His kingdom on earth. We have had people asking us what they can do to help our mission; it is simple – TALK TO YOUR PARISH PRIEST, MINISTRY LEADERS, PASTORAL LEADERS, GROUP LEADERS and ask them the questions:
  1. What can I do to help you in your mission to keep/bring our parishioners together as a welcoming and loving community?
  2. What can we do today to make our parish shine Christ's light and love to people inside and outside of our parish?
This is where we can help out with our services.
At a glance, the services we can provide to engage with and empower parishioners to become missionary disciples are as follows:

~ Angelus group call on WhatsApp from Monday to Friday praying for all the intentions received (Daily)
~ Daily Gospel & Commentary from the Fathers and Doctors of the Church (Daily)
~ Discovering the Lives of Saints on Facebook (Daily)
~ Lectio Divina/LOV for MASS in-person and online Gathering on Wednesday evening (Weekly)
~ Catechism in Year Group on WhatsApp with online casual sessions (bi-Weekly)
~ Individual Lectio Divina prayer sheet (Weekly on demand)
~ LOV Podcast with prayer intentions dedicated to each family member
~ Priest’s prayer and blessing (Weekly)
~ Priest's homily on the Sunday’s Gospel (Weekly)
~ Novenas & Adoration videos (Periodically)
~ Special Podcast and Theme series on the Word of God or special topics (Occasionally)

These are the services we can provide to your respective parishes or, if it suits you better, we are happy to share them with your leaders who can then disperse them to their groups.
Up to you, just let us know!

These services are the fruit of a collective work undertaken by our LOV Verbum Dei family members who are interacting, sharing, praying and spiritually supporting each other on several WhatsApp groups.
